Manchester United now know the team’s opponents for the 2023/24 Champions League group stages.

Erik ten Hag‘s side will face Bayern Munich, FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray in the group stages.

It is a group United will be comfortable with, avoiding some of the more dangerous teams from pots three and four.

The matches with Bayern will be difficult no doubt, but they are also the kind of Champions League glamour ties the team will embrace.

Marcus Rashford reaction

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford was among the first to react to the Champions League draw.

Last season’s top goalscorer wrote on Instagram: “Can’t wait to make more memories in the @championsleague 😘⭐️⚽️”

Rashford last season showed he is a player for the big occasion, scoring in the Europa League away at Barcelona, and he will be excited for the matches with Bayern, going up against England colleague Harry Kane.

Marcus Rashford record

Marcus Rashford has a hat-trick already in the Champions League against a German side, netting three goals in a 5-0 win over RB Leipzig in 2020.

His penalty winner against Paris Saint-Germain was a memorable high, and he will be looking to add to this.

Rashford has a total of 12 goals in 29 Champions League appearances for Manchester United.

But he has never been past the quarter-finals, reaching this stage once in 2019.

One step at a time, let’s get out the group, and then see where the journey takes us…
