Marcus Rashford explains nobody is allowed to touch gift given to him by his Man United idol Cristiano Ronaldo

Marcus Rashford has revealed that a gift he received from former Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo cannot be touched by anyone.

The Manchester United forward, who has scored just once in the Premier League so far this season, has struggled to replicate last season’s 30-goal haul last year.

Erik ten Hag looked to have brought the best out of Marcus Rashford last year, but the manager has not seen his star forward enjoy the same success, despite keeping faith in the England ace.

One player who did not get along with Ten Hag, however, was the iconic Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

Rashford on Ronaldo’s gift

Back in 2018, before the Portuguese forward returned to United for his second spell, Ronaldo, who is excelling in the Middle East, gave Rashford a pair of Nike Air Max 97 CR7 Red trainers worth £145.

The English forward has spoken about that moment and how much it meant to him to receive that gift from one of his biggest idols and why he won’t let anyone near it.

“No one can touch them,” Rashford said during an appearance on the TV show Sneaker Shopping.

“He (Ronaldo) was one of my favourite players growing up. I liked the shoe, I’d love to wear the shoe but if I messed them up then I don’t know what I’d do to myself.”

The pair seemed to forge a close bond in Manchester prior to the former Real Madrid forward seeing his contract at United terminated.

Rashford battling to find form

The last few months have certainly been a struggle for the Englishman. He has been selected into Gareth Southgate’s England squad, but there seems to be a case for Raheem Sterling to get in ahead of him.

Rashford was awarded a new contract by the club following his stellar year last season but, as of yet, the forward hasn’t come close to hitting those heights.

The Englishman will need to find his form soon otherwise, like Raphael Varane, he may find himself on the bench soon for United.
