Marcus Rashford doing extra work on his heading and benefiting from Ten Hag’s specialist coaching

Marcus Rashford has been doing extra work on his heading this season after advice from Manchester United coaching staff.

The Times have reported on how Rashford got himself into England’s World Cup squad despite not having played a Three Lions game since Euro 2020.

He of course missed a penalty in the final and that came amid a time when he was really struggling for form and fitness.

The report says that Rashford has not really had a set role or specialist coaching under a succession of United managers since getting his debut under Louis van Gaal.

He is now getting that under Erik ten Hag and he is reaping the benefits, having rediscovered his best form.

There are still bits to work on, such as Rashford’s finishing as he often smashes his finishes, which is sometimes at the expense of accuracy.

And heading is another one of those things, which Rashford has worked hard at and done extra work on with United’s staff.

He recently scored a bullet header against West Ham, which was evidence of his new-found prowess in the air.

Rashford has played on both flanks and upfront for United this season, and that versatility could be handy for England in their quest for glory in Qatar.

He has stiff competition for places in those areas of the pitch, and may perhaps have some catching up to do after his time away from the squad.

But if Rashford tears it up at the World Cup, it would continue his transformation this season under Ten Hag – and he can still get even better.
