Many Manchester United fans are feeling fearful after Everton points deduction

Manchester United will face Everton next Sunday which has left fans fearful of a ‘bounce’ due to the points deduction.

Everton have been handed a 10-point deduction, effective immediately by the Premier League for breaching the league’s profitability and sustainability rules as per The Athletic.

The deduction saw Everton drop down to 19th in the league, second bottom only based on goal difference with Burnley bottom.

Much to the dismay of many Manchester United fans, this has happened just over a week before United head to Goodison Park, a task which has just been made a whole lot more difficult.

The Everton fanbase will be right behind the team as they now face a stiff challenge to get themselves out of relegation peril.

Fans are feeling fearful after Everton points deduction

Last season it seemed like United were always facing a new manager bounce with teams conveniently making a change just before facing Erik ten Hag‘s side.

Now though fans are concerned that we could be about to face a different kind of bounce, one fan remarked on X: “Just United’s luck to be the first team in 13 years to face a ‘points deduction bounce’ after the international break……….”

Another fan suggested that the decision for United to have points deducted is another example of United being hard done by: “Everton need the points and OF COURSE Man United is who they have next..THIS IS A SETUP.”

A third also showed some fear after the news writing, “Manchester United playing away from home against fully raging Everton players”, this was accompanied by a video perfectly encompassing the mood.

United could have a bounce of their own

The takeover of Manchester United is believed to be in its final stages and there could be news before next weekend’s game at Goodison. This would be a boost and potentially end up with a bigger bounce than Everton could get.

It was reported earlier this week that the United takeover would be completed this week, with no news as of yet. But despite nothing official, the hints are there with no hint bigger than Richard Arnold’s departure being announced.

A very important game occurs next Sunday, with United needing a win to continue their rise up the table toward the top four again in the hopes that eventually we start playing well.
