Manchester United continue to produce exciting young players and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not afraid to use them.
This season, it has been the turn of Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams. Next year, Axel Tuanzebe should excel. And, if things go well, the 2021/22 campaign could be when James Garner finally flourishes in United’s midfield.
Garner is highly rated at Old Trafford. In fact, he is one of the most talented teenagers in a very exciting bunch. The problem is, as a midfielder, it was always going to take time before the 19-year-old got his chance.
While the Europa League has allowed Garner a few chances to shine, United’s strength in depth means he needs to temporarily move elsewhere next season.
According to the Manchester Evening News, a loan move for Garner is inevitable whenever the new campaign kicks off. Given his talent, he will have no shortage of suitors.
United must ensure they get the decision about Garner’s next club right. If he plays weeks in, week out, he could easily come back to Old Trafford ready to stake a claim in late 2021.
This is a player Solskjaer has heaped huge praise on. Speaking to United’s official website last season, the boss said, ‘We have great faith in him as the next Michael Carrick.’
To ensure that prophecy comes true, Garner needs to play. He needs a club that will allow him to blossom and get vital experience of first-team football.
The talent is already there. Once he has some experience, expect Garner to be United’s next big thing.
