Manchester United drew 1-1 against La Liga side Rayo Vallecano in the club’s final pre-season friendly ahead of the new season.

In Erik ten Hag‘s first taste of action at Old Trafford, Amad gave the Reds the lead early in the second half after replacing Cristiano Ronaldo at half-time.

But nine minutes after the Ivory Coast international’s opener, Alvaro Garcia equalised for the visitors.

Here are Manchester United’s four best players against Rayo Vallecano from the clash at the Theatre of Dreams.

The 20-year-old is reportedly closing in on a season-long loan move to Championship side Watford with United’s pre-season calendar drawing to an end.

United’s academy graduate was a bundle of energy against the La Liga side, galloping forward and overlapping at will.

With Aaron Wan-Bissaka not part of the side and Diogo Dalot given the afternoon off, Laird seized his chance and produced a diligent performance both offensively and defensively.

Laird’s blistering pace was a constant outlet for the United side and Ten Hag must have been impressed with our number 41’s display.

The Argentine defender looked like he had been marshalling United’s backline for several years, there were no signs of nerves from the former Ajax man.

He showcased his quality both in and out of possession and the 24-year-old will be targeting a starting spot in Ten Hag’s XI for next Sunday’s clash against Brighton.

Calm with the ball at his feet, aggressive when trying to win the ball back and when defending, United’s new number six could be a big hit at Old Trafford.

The South American’s desire to win will also be an invaluable trait for the United dressing room.

The former Brentford man showcased his range of passing with either foot on his first start for Manchester United.

The 30-year-old played a perfectly weighted pass into the path of Alex Telles with his left foot, and it looked effortless.

Dropping deep and getting on the ball, United’s new number 14 was looking to make things happen and snapping him up on a free transfer looks to be a shrewd piece of business.

The Danish playmaker was brought off after an hour with Martinez and the pair will be hoping to make their Premier League debuts for United against the Seagulls.

The 18-year-old whizkid was met with an embrace by Ten Hag following his performance, and his display more than warranted further chances this season.

The young Argentine possesses raw pace and quick feet which scared the daylights out the Vallecano backline.

United’s number 49 has a big future ahead and playing under Ten Hag will help unlock and develop his raw potential.
