The draw for the Carabao Cup semi-finals has been made with Manchester United’s opponents set.

Manchester United will face Nottingham Forest in the semi-finals. The other semi-final tie features Newcastle and Southampton, teams United could face in the final.

The semi-final will be two legs, with the first set for the week commencing January 23rd, and the second leg a week later. Forest play the first leg at home, with the second at Old Trafford.

While this certainly adds to Manchester United’s fixture congestion, manager Erik ten Hag would rather his side be involved, with the potential to earn a final date at Wembley.

The big relief is Manchester City crashing out tonight in a surprise loss to Southampton, defeated 2-0.

All games will be televised on Sky Sports, unlike United’s midweek quarter-final.

The Carabao Cup final date is set for February 26, which is just three days after Manchester United’s Europa League home second leg against Barcelona.

First up United must come through the semi-final on top, a big test for Erik ten Hag’s side.

United have reached the final via home wins against Aston Villa, Burnley, and Charlton Athletic, by a combined score of 9-2.
