Manchester United youngster Zidane Iqbal has shared a picture with Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar.

Iqbal met the Brazil international at a sponsorship event held by Puma, and the United prospect shared the image on Instagram.

This came amid news Iqbal has earned another international call-up into Iraq’s national squad.

Iqbal made his debut for Iraq earlier in 2022, featuring as a substitute against Iran and then Lebanon.

He will link up with the squad for qualifiers against United Arab Emirates and then Syria over the next fortnight.

First, he could be involved for Manchester United’s under-23s on Friday night against Everton. He featured in the 3-0 loss to Leeds on Tuesday night and the squad will be keen to atone for that poor result, their first defeat in six games.

Iqbal, 18, is playing his first season at under-23 level and has scored twice in 16 appearances. He also has goals in the EFL Trophy and the UEFA Youth League.

The highlight of his club season was a substitute in the Champions League against Young Boys in December, playing the final few minutes, along with fellow debutant Charlie Savage.

While that appearance seems like a one-off, if United’s season really goes off the rails as it threatens to, Ralf Rangnick may consider to ‘play the kids’ as an alternative to shake it up.

For him to do so, the under-23s need to play well and give him added reason to call them up by putting in strong performances of their own.
