Hannibal has his best game yet on loan

This was just the midfielder’s second Championship start. He has six substitute appearances and has had to be patient to work his way into the team.

It’s paying off, and Birmingham’s approach should be commended. He hasn’t just been handed a spot on reputation as a Manchester United player, he has had to earn his opportunity like any other. Now he has done so and is looking like a standout player for the team.

Hannibal led the way in Birmingham’s win, making more tackles (5) than any player on the pitch.

He completed 92 per cent of his passes, and won a total of 11 out of 16 duels contested. He was also fouled four times, more than any other player.

The Tunisia international created one goalscoring chance, made two interceptions and two clearances, in a strong all round display which saw him hailed by the team’s social media account.

Hannibal appears to be embracing the challenge of playing competitive football, and while he revels in the combative side of the game, he’s a class act on the ball too.

This is likely to become more and more evident as the season goes on, and plenty of game time is likely to come his way.
