Manchester United are pushing to sign Frenkie de Jong and Lisandro Martinez. There were a couple of updates overnight worth knowing…

‘Frenkie de Jong deadline’
Manchester United have set a deadline for the signing of Frenkie de Jong. Talksport report United have told Barcelona they want the deal done by Friday.
United bigwigs Richard Arnold and John Murtough were spotted in Barcelona, where talks have been held with the Spanish club.
This is an overdue proactive move from United to attempt to push this deal over the line. Whether Barcelona care for United’s deadline, is another matter. So is whether United actually enforce it.
De Jong is Manchester United’s number one transfer target, with Erik ten Hag keen to re-sign the player he helped become a star at Ajax.

Ajax ready to reduce Lisandro Martinez price
United are also pursuing Ajax centre-back Lisandro Martinez, but the Dutch club have been awkward to deal with over this transfer.
De Telegraaf reported on Friday that United had submitted a new £43 million offer they hopes would get the job done. The Mirror then reported Ajax had moved the goalposts and were demanding £52 million.
Voetbal Primeur now report Ajax are ready to sit down with Manchester United after listening to Martinez’s desire to leave.
They now want to find a solution and grant Martinez his move, and are ready to ‘reduce’ his new asking price to £46.4 million (55m Euros).
