Manchester United are close to wrapping up the signing of goalkeeper Andre Onana.

The Mirror report a deal could be concluded imminently, with Manchester United and Inter Milan nearing an agreement.

Andre Onana will be Manchester United’s new number one, and could change the dynamic of the team due to his range of passing from the back.

His arrival will benefit Erik ten Hag‘s team across the board, with David de Gea’s contract expiring.

Andre Onana praised

Andre Onana’s upcoming move to Manchester United was discussed via ESPNFC with pundit and co-commentator Don Hutchison describing him as one of the best around.

He believes Onana is in the same tier as Ederson and Alisson and will make a big difference to Manchester United.

He explained: “He’s up there with the very best. For Ten Hag’s style of wanting to play from the back there are not many better.

“I’d rank him alongside Ederson with the ball at his feet. He starts a lot of play off, his range of passing is very good.

“He’s very comfortable at dropping balls to the front men, his range of passing whether he’s going left, right, his left  foot, right foot is very very good.

“He’s ultra-confident, he’s a very good goalkeeper in his own right. With the ball at his feet he is very special. I’d rank him up there with Alisson and Ederson.

“You’re getting a massive upgrade if United get this deal done. I don’t think there’s room for Onana and De Gea.”

Manchester United would like to get this deal done promptly, with players already reporting for pre-season training.

Onana has already played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax and will know exactly what the manager expects, which could make for a seamless transition.
