Late night Manchester United transfer update…

Manchester United’s ambitious interest in signing Casemiro came as a surprise today, with the club ending negotiations for Adrien Rabiot.

The Telegraph report United are weighing up a £50 million move for Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro.

Now talks for another forward are on the table, with Marca claiming United are planning an approach for Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix, who cost the Spanish side £113 million from Benfica in 2019.

Marca claim United executives have held talks with Joao Felix’s entourage in Madrid on Tuesday evening.

Atletico Madrid are not planning to sell the forward, but United are expected to hold talks with the Spanish club, and Real Madrid are also expecting an approach for Casemiro.

United’s ambition to target this high profile duo comes late in the window, with Marca describing United’s approach as ‘desperate’.

In recent days United have also been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid striker Matheus Cunha, via The Mail, and this was also referenced in the report, along with Espanyol forward Raul de Tomas.

Cristiano Ronaldo has also been linked with Atletico Madrid, and agent Jorge Mendes is no doubt in the thick of negotiations. He also represents Joao Felix.

Felix scored the winner between the two clubs in pre-season last month, and also scored against United in the Champions League earlier this year.

United are only in the Europa League this season, and sitting 20th in the Premier League table after two games makes negotiating to sign players from top clubs even tougher.

With time running out, and having already missed out on Frenkie de Jong, United are pushing hard to try and sign big names. This usually doesn’t end well.
