Manchester United have released a statement of support to Cristiano Ronaldo after the forward announced the death of his newborn son.
Ronaldo announced he and partner Georgina Rodriguez were ‘devastated’ one of the twins had died. The baby girl survived.

Manchester United teammate Marcus Rashford sent Ronaldo a public message saying he was ‘so sorry’ to learn of the news.

United stars Alex Telles, David de Gea and Diogo Dalot were among the first to respond on Instagram.
There was also a message from ex-teammate Alvaro Morata, and Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro.
There was also a supportive message to Ronaldo from the Premier League.

Ronaldo has four children with partner Georgina and the pair were expecting twins. Only one of them survived.
He wrote in his statement that, ‘only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness’.
Ronaldo is in his first season back in England since returning to the club last summer, having previously left United in 2009.
