Manchester United transfer target Diogo Costa has signed a new contract at FC Porto, the club confirmed.
The Athletic reported last week that Manchester United have been scouting Costa, ahead of a potential move next summer.
Portuguese newspaper CM Jornal even claimed United have enquired to ‘reserve’ Costa for next summer, asking to be directly told about any competing interest in the shot stopper.
Last night Porto announced the 23-year-old goalkeeper has extended his current contract until 2027.

United’s hopes of a move for Diogo Costa are far from over. This new contract simply means he has just got a little more expensive.
Fabrizio Romano reports Costa’s new deal has a release clause of 75 million Euros, approximately £65 million.
This is not a price which will deter Manchester United, if a decision is made that he is the club’s top target.
United still have to decide whether to move on from David de Gea, who has been in very impressive form lately. His contract expires in 2023, and he is one of United’s most highly paid players.
The release clause is higher than Costa’s previously rumoured one of around £50 million – but it is still an affordable figure for Portugal’s number one.
If United really do want to sign him, then it will be a price worth paying for a goalkeeper who could be number one for the next decade.
