Manchester United target Adrien Rabiot was a Liverpool fan

Manchester United’s imminent move for Adrien Rabiot is not the most popular of potential signings. And that’s before we get onto his choice of boyhood club.

The Guardian report a provisional deal has been agreed with Juventus worth £15 million for the France international.

Rabiot would leave Juventus and make a long-awaited move to the Premier League, nine years after Manchester United first scouted him.

He has been a fan of the Premier League for years, and unfortunately, has a liking for one of United’s rivals.

Adrien Rabiot was a Liverpool fan

Rabiot spoke to RMC Sport in 2017 and made an admission which Manchester United fans won’t like.

He admitted: “I would love to play in the Premier League. There isn’t necessarily a particular club, although when I was young I was all behind Liverpool.”

Rabiot has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the past. The Mail even suggested this summer that Juventus were interested in a swap deal with Naby Keita.

Nothing materialised, and it looks like being Manchester United who will enable Juventus to get the midfielder off their books.

Like all new players, Rabiot will have to prove himself to Manchester United if he signs. Rabiot may have to go the extra mile, with fans sceptical over the transfer strategy.

It’s possible he could be signed in time to make his debut against Liverpool on August 22. Helping Manchester United to a win over his boyhood club would be the perfect way to prove his commitment.
