Manchester United plan to step up talks to sign Alejandro Garnacho to a longer term contract, report ESPN.
The report claims United are ‘confident’ of tying Garnacho to a new contract extension.
What you need to know…
ESPN claim a ‘new round of talks’ has been scheduled between Manchester United and Alejandro Garnacho’s representatives.
United believe Garnacho’s status as a first team regular does warrant an improved contract than his current deal.
The Independent had reported this week that a previous proposed offer of £20,000 per week was not enough.

The Sun had reported in November that Garnacho could be offered terms of around £50,000.
No breakthrough has arrived yet, but United are not under extreme pressure yet, as Garnacho’s current deal runs to June 2024, with an extra option to run to June 2025.
The youngster has been a revelation this season since breaking into Erik ten Hag‘s first team, and the manager praised him earlier this week.
He told the club website: “He has skill and I don’t see that many players, even in the Premier League, who have that skill, like he beats players one-on-one. But he learned in the last months how to play in the team and how to live and do the right things in the week, and how to have the right attitude on the training ground.”
Ten Hag would be extremely disappointed to lose Garnacho if a contract could not be agreed.
The report suggesting United have scheduled new talks with the player are very encouraging, and the sooner he can be signed up to a long-term deal, the better.
