Manchester United decided it was best to part ways with Dean Henderson in the summer.

The keeper rose through the academy ranks at Old Trafford and managed to put himself in contention over the years to compete with the number one spot with David de Gea.

However, after numerous loan spells away, Erik ten Hag ultimately came to the decision it was never going to happen for Dean Henderson at United.

He was subsequently sold to Crystal Palace, where he made his Premier League debut this weekend.

Dean Henderson makes Premier League debut for Crystal Palace

Roy Hodgson brought Henderson back in the summer of 2023, with a goalkeeper firmly on the Eagle’s wishlist.

However, an injury sustained against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup has meant the 26-year-old hasn’t featured in the Premier League yet.

That was until this weekend when Henderson was given a baptism of fire against Manchester City – where his team pulled off an ‘unbelievable’ 2-2 result.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Henderson was made up with his league debut for his new side.

“I think it was an unbelievable result to come here,” Henderson begins. “To get a draw, it’s fantastic. I loved every minute of it, being back on the pitch. I think it’s nearly been a year since I last played. I’m delighted.”

There’s a reason he was delighted – the former Red Devil put in a seriously top performance.

Henderson watched his side come from two goals down at the Etihad to rescue a point against the Premier League champions. He was class throughout, making numerous saves that ultimately kept his side in it.

Henderson will no doubt be preferred as the first choice for Palace moving forward, the English keeper just has to remain fit and he could finally find some form again after departing Old Trafford.
