Manchester United have made a new bid for Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez, report Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
United’s offer is worth 50 million Euros (£43 million). This is an improvement on the £40 million offer The Mirror reported United made at the weekend.
The new offer is inclusive of add-ons. Ajax are set to hold a meeting today (Friday 8/7) to decide whether to accept the offer.
De Telegraaf notes Ajax may simply not be able to turn down United’s new, substantial offer.

Martinez is keen on a move, and AS report Martinez interrupted his holiday last week to travel to Ajax and inform them of his desire to quit the club.
He has since made phone calls to the Eredivisie champions to re-affirm his desire to leave.
The 50 million Euro offer meets Ajax’s asking price, but the success may depend on how much of it is up front and how much is in add-ons, and whether that is to their liking.
United were expected to return with an improved offer for the centre-back, and this new bid could be United’s final bid.
Martinez’s desire to move to the Premier League makes it difficult for Ajax to reject United’s new £43m bid out of hand, and if successful, he would become the Red Devils’ biggest signing of the summer so far, with the Frenkie de Jong move still in limbo.

Left-footer: Martinez is a left-footed defender, which could offer United extra balance at the back.
Ajax’s bargain: Ajax paid just £6.3 million to sign Martinez. Now they could sell him for four times the price.
No reds: Despite his ‘butcher of Amsterdam’ nickname, Martinez plays hard but fair. He has never been sent off for Ajax.
Vacant number: Martinez wears the number 21 shirt for Ajax, a number which is currently vacant at Manchester United.
