Manchester United star came agonisingly close to doing something he hasn’t in 1,033 days

Manchester United are back after the international break – with an absolute bang.

Erik ten Hag‘s men faced a tricky trip to Goodison Park, which they made look like a walk in one. Goals from Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and an Alejandro Garnacho wonder strike were enough to get all three points.

The third goalscorer was Martial, who scored his first goal for Manchester United since the 26th of September 2023. In fairness – he did well in Rasmus Hojlund‘s absence.

A nice end to a drought for the Frenchman. However, he still couldn’t manage something he hadn’t achieved in a whopping 1033 days.

Anthony Martial hasn’t finished 90 minutes since January 2021

It’s no secret to anyone that Martial is very injury-prone. It’s 100% the Frenchman’s biggest flaw as a footballer.

What is quite remarkable, however, is the last time Martial completed 90 minutes in a Premier League fixture.

To find the last time Martial completed 90 minutes for Manchester United in the Premier League, you have to head all the way back to the 27th of January 2021.

This was a home defeat to Sheffield United, a game Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s side lost 2-1. An entire 1,033 days ago.

He came agonisingly close against Everton – departing after 84 minutes. Maybe one day, Anthony.

Anthony Martial’s last 90 minutes for Manchester United

The French forward has completed a game outside of the Premier League a little more recently for the Red Devils.

He managed the feat in September 2021 during a Carabao Cup third-round match at Old Trafford which United lost 1-0 to West Ham.

This is still over a whopping two years ago. Does Martial stake a claim for being Manchester United’s most injury-prone player of all time? We certainly think so.

He has so many good qualities as a footballer, but sadly his injury issues overshadow all of this. Sad to see really.
