Manchester United need width next season. They have already begun their rebuild with the signing of Dan James but the Welshman should just be the start.
While strengthening other positions is vital, buying another winger should be on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s to-do list, especially if Anthony Martial moves up front and Alexis Sanchez is shipped out as many hope.
James may take time to settle at Old Trafford, but there is a brilliant alternative reportedly eager to join him at United.
According to Il Roma, Hirving Lozano is delaying a move to Italy in the hope that United make a late bid of their own. While his agent is allegedly warning him against such thinking, Solskjaer should be taking note.
After all, Lozano scored 21 goals and provided 12 assists in 40 games for PSV last season. The year earlier, he managed 19 goals and 11 assists in just 34 outings.
In short, Lozano knows where the goal is and, for a reported £40million, he would not break the bank.
In time he could fly down one United wing while James does the same on the other. At 23, Lozano is the right age bracket for a Red Devils side looking to build their next great team.
If the reports are true, he also wants a United move. Not many players with such a goal-scoring record will be available and willing to join this summer, so what is Ed Woodward waiting for?
