Manchester United are reeling from an injury blow sustained against Bayern Munich to in-form defender Harry Maguire.
Harry Maguire had to be substituted in the first half after suffering what appeared to be a groin injury.
Maguire kicked the ball out of play, before receiving treatment. He then attempted to play on, before kicking the ball out again, substituted in the 40th minute in Tuesday night’s Champions League game.
The centre-back had been Manchester United’s best defender in recent weeks, winning the Premier League player of the month award.
Manchester United lost the game 1-0, going out of the Champions League, finishing fourth in the group.

Harry Maguire injury reaction
Chris Sutton told BBC Sport: “You have a good idea when you have an injury. The look on Maguire’s face suggests he’s not happy.
He added: “That’s a massive blow for Manchester United. There’s a lot to be admired about Harry Maguire after his days looked to be numbered.”
Owen Hargreaves told TNT Sports: “Such a shame, he’s been in brilliant form Harry Maguire. Let’s hope it’s not too serious.”
Wes Brown told MUTV: “If it’s bad it could be a couple of months. Let’s hope it’s not. He was doing well as well.
“It’s not good to see that from Harry who’s been excellent for us.”
Luke Shaw also substituted at half-time
Luke Shaw was substituted at half-time with an apparent injury replaced with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, while Diogo Dalot switched to left-back.
Rio Ferdinand told TNT Sports: “It’s going from bad to worse for Manchester United.”
Injuries a major blow
Manchester United really need Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw for the upcoming run of fixtures, set to face Liverpool at Anfield this weekend.
Maguire could then miss the subsequent game against West Ham, the team he came close to joining in the summer.
More will be learned over Maguire and Shaw’s statuses over the coming days. Shaw has only recently returned from a spell on the sidelines. United’s website says both players will be ‘assessed’.
United welcomed back Raphael Varane to the starting line-up against Bayern and he will need to step up over this upcoming period.
Jonny Evans replaced Maguire, while Victor Lindelof did not make the squad due to illness.
