Manchester United receive positive news on Andre Onana injury

Manchester United are expecting to see goalkeeper Andre Onana start against Everton next weekend with his injury not as bad as first feared.

All Erik ten Hag wants from any international break is to see his players return to Manchester unscathed.

United have suffered more than enough injury problems so far this season and really don’t need any more issues.

That is ultimately why Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund both pulled out of the Denmark squad having picked up injuries against Luton Town.

United are looking to avoid any problems but have been given a scare after seeing Andre Onana go down with an injury.

Manchester United positive over Andre Onana injury

Onana lined up in goal for Cameroon as they faced Mauritius on Friday night.

This was a comfortable 3-0 win for Cameroon, as expected, but Onana ended up going off injured with around 10 minutes to play.

Actu Cameroon report that the problem was an adductor injury, leaving United to worry about a potential absence.

Those fears have been eased though with The Mirror claiming that Onana’s injury is ‘not as bad as first feared’.

It’s stated that sources close to Onana believe that the injury isn’t serious and he was only taken off as a precaution.

The expectation is that Onana will be able to line up against Everton next weekend, but all eyes will be on Cameroon on Tuesday as they take on Libya.

Onana may well play in that game and kill off the fears once and for all, but an absence there may set bells ringing again.

Altay Bayindir appearance comes at the right time

If Onana does end up missing out, United will have to turn to Altay Bayindir.

The Turkish stopper arrived from Fenerbahce over the summer but has yet to make his United debut.

United staff have allegedly been impressed with Bayindir in training of late, offering encouragement for him to make his bow very soon.

It’s unclear just when that chance will come, but Bayindir did start for Turkey in their 3-2 win over Germany on Saturday night.

Bayindir got valuable minutes under his belt and that game seemed to come at the perfect time with the 25-year-old potentially needing to be raring to go next weekend.
