Manchester United have received a double boost ahead of their game against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup tomorrow evening.

The United website has revealed that Mason Mount and Harry Maguire are back in training ahead of the game against Roy Hodgson’s side.

Mount has been injured since the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last month but it seems like the midfielder is well on his way to making a return to the first-team picture.

The Englishman was the first 2023 summer signing a Old Trafford and the hope is that the former Chelsea man will finally come good for Erik ten Hag.

Maguire and Mount return

As mentioned, Maguire is, too, set to return after a training injury last week saw him miss out against Bayern Munich and Burnley and he may well be needed for the next few fixtures.

With Jonny Evans lining up alongside Victor Lindelof during Saturday’s win over Burnley, the return of the former Leicester City defender may well be at a key time for United.

With the return of Raphael Varane too, Maguire could lineup alongside the Frenchman and try to prove to Ten Hag that he deserves to feature more in the first team for the Red Devils.

Will the pair start against Palace

It seems likely that Mount will start as United aims to retain the Carabao Cup after winning the competition last season.

Maguire, too, may well start against Hodgson’s side in a much-needed attempt to prove to the former Ajax boss that he is good enough to feature more at Old Trafford.

The return of the pair may well see the current injury crisis finally come to an end and that could be a big boost to Ten Hag, who will surely have to rotate his options ahead of this game so his players don’t get burnt out so early on in the season.
