Manchester United have reached an agreement with Ajax to sign Argentinian Lisandro Martinez on a five-year contract.
The Red Devils have agreed a £46.8m fee plus £8.5m in add-ons with the Eredivisie champions.
Martinez’s contract will also include the option of a further 12 months.

The 24-year-old becomes Erik ten Hag’s third signing following the arrivals of Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen.

Ten Hag has been keen to reunite with the versatile Argentina international who can play centre-back, left-back or holding midfield.
Manchester United club legend Rio Ferdinand believes that Martinez will predominantly play in midfield under the club’s fifth permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson.
After a slow start to our transfer business, things are picking up in the market for the Red Devils and hopefully more good news is to follow.
Frenkie de Jong remains Ten Hag’s primary target and that deal could drag on throughout the duration of the transfer window.
Martinez’s former Ajax teammate Antony remains a player that Ten Hag also wants to bring to Old Trafford, but that deal isn’t being treated with the same urgency and focus as our pursuit of Barcelona midfield De Jong.
