Manchester United have provided an injury update surrounding Jonny Evans after the defender was seen hobbling on international duty with Northern Ireland.
Erik ten Hag started Jonny Evans during the win over Brentford and the 35-year-old, alongside former Leicester City teammate Harry Maguire, looked assured at the back for Manchester United.
However, it seems Evans may well have been carrying an injury towards the closing stages of Northern Ireland’s 1-0 defeat against Slovenia on Tuesday night.
The injury certainly looked a worry but there has been a positive update provided on the United academy graduate.

Jonny Evans fitness update
According to a report from the Manchester Evening News, Evans is expected to be fit for United’s trip to face Sheffield United this weekend, despite the injury scare he suffered.
Evans appeared to be in some pain after taking a blow to his foot in the final minutes of the match, which could have added to United’s already worrying injury situation.
Michael O’Neill, Northern Ireland manager, provided an update on the defender’s fitness.
“He’s obviously hobbling a bit; I think the same foot got stamped on three times,” he told reporters after the defeat.
“So he’s had it pretty badly. I think he’s fine; he’ll be okay. It is one of those where he’ll wake up in the morning, and I imagine it’ll be pretty sore, but there’s no sort of real damage or anything as far as I am aware.”
Unite’s defensive injury crisis
If Evans were to miss the game then United may have to field Victor Lindelof alongside Maguire but the expectation is that Evans, as well as Raphael Varane, will be back fit in time for the game at Bramall Lane.
Lisandro Martinez will be out until the new year, so reinforcements are required. So the fitness of Evans, just for squad depth and to make up the numbers on the bench, will be crucial.
Evans has surely made a case for himself to start the game at Bramall Lane after excelling against Thomas Frank’s Bees before the international break.
