Manchester United prepared to pay £58.9 million to sign Antony

Manchester United prepared to pay £58.9m
At the start of the transfer window, this type of fee would have been one which Ajax would have snapped United’s hand off for.
Instead it is currently not enough to make Ajax part ways with the winger, considered a key part of their side for next season.
90Min report Ajax want £67.3 million for Antony (80 million). This is an excessive amount United are reasonably not willing to pay.
The positives to gleam from this update is that Manchester United are prepared to back manager Erik ten Hag for a player he considers a key target.
The two clubs are just £8 million apart in valuation, and this appears like a gap which can be overcome over the next month, with add-ons, clauses, etc.
Ajax can’t rule out sale
Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder was asked about Antony’s future ahead of their friendly match against Shakhtar last night.
He admitted that he could not rule out a sale, even though his preference is to keep the Brazilian.
Antony has recovered from injury and despite fears he may not return until August, he made his return last night and should feature at the weekend in the Johan Cruyff Shield clash against PSV, the Dutch version of the Community Shield.
Ajax recently signed winger Francisco Conceicao. Technical manager Gerry Hamstra told Het Parool that Conceicao is considered to be Antony’s successor.
