Manchester United defender Will Fish is now set to head on the Manchester United pre-season tour.

A year can make a big difference. Last season Will Fish was sent off just minutes into a pre-season appearance. Last week against Leeds, he looked confident and assured in a solid 45 minutes in Oslo.

It was clear to see the benefit of his loan spell at Hibernian. This was a player who has grown in confidence from playing regular football.

Another loan spell is expected for the 20-year-old, however, not as quickly as first planned.

Will Fish loan delay

Hibernian have been pursuing another loan spell for Will Fish, and it had been planned for him to switch later this month.

The MEN reported last week that Fish was set to link up with Edinburgh based Hibernian after Manchester United’s friendly against Lyon in the Scottish capital.

However, he is now claimed to be selected to head of Manchester United’s pre-season tour in the USA.

The MEN and the Daily Record now claim Fish is set to be included on United’s tour and could play against Wrexham, and be included in other games.

A loan deal would go through afterwards, although of course, the longer Fish has with Manchester United, the more chance he has to impress manager Erik ten Hag.

What has changed at Manchester United

There have been a few developments over the last few days to prompt the change of plan over Fish’s loan deal.

One has been the injury suffered to Rhys Bennett, who started alongside Fish against Leeds. United confirm he won’t travel on the tour.

Jonny Evans has arrived on a short-term deal, however, there are questions over defender Harry Maguire.

Maguire has been removed as first team captain, and there are clubs queueing up for his services. There is no guarantee he travels to the USA.
