Manchester United are plotting a last attempt to try and sign Ajax’s Antony, reports GOAL.
The Times reported that one of the winger’s representatives had been in England last week as speculation continues.
As well as Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, it’s clear that Erik ten Hag wants the club’s hierarchy to reunite him with the Brazilian international.

But following the departures of Sebastian Haller, Ryan Gravenberch, Nicolas Tagliafico, Noussair Mazraoui and Andre Onana, Ajax techinical manager Gerry Hamstra has declared that no more of the club’s prized assets will be leaving this summer.
The Red Devils have already signed Lisandro Martinez from the reigning Eredivisie champions this summer, but Ten Hag will still retain hope that Antony can follow the former Ajax duo to the Theatre of Dreams.

While Ajax do not want to sell the former Sau Paulo starlet, Manchester United have also not met their £68m asking price.
United’s previous £51m offer fell way short of Ajax’s valuation for the 22-year-old.
GOAL reports that while United aren’t going to meet Ajax’s £68m asking price an improved bid for the South American star could be lodged imminently.

The nine-time Brazil international was signed by Ten Hag in 2020 and has made 78 appearances for Ajax, scoring 22 goals and laying on 20 assists.
Regardless of Cristiano Ronaldo’s ongoing uncertainty at Manchester United, Ten Hag reiterated in his most recent pre-match press conference that United’s forward line needs bolstering.
Ajax’s number 11 has three years left to run on his contract and GOAL adds that Antony’s former club Sau Paulo will earn a significant portion of any transfer fee above £13m that the Dutch side receive for him.

Manchester United’s talented forward line has dazzled during pre-season, but Ten Hag has frequently aired the need for a strong squad given our participation in the Europa League, and the impact the winter World Cup will have on the campaign.
Antony would be a quality addition, but it will all depend on whether Ajax deem our potential last bid for the right winger worthy of accepting.
