Some Manchester United players looked absolutely shattered after Erik ten Hag‘s latest training session in Melbourne.

Several of Manchester United’s senior players have spoken about how intense and demanding the sessions have been under the club’s fifth permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.

In order for the 52-year-old to replicate the intense and all-action style of football that became his blueprint at Ajax with Manchester United – Ten Hag knows he needs to get his side significantly fitter.

The former Ajax boss has wasted no time in implementing his philosophy and stamping his own imprint on proceedings at Manchester United.

Pre-season isn’t meant to be a walk in the park and after last season’s travesty, the standards that Ten Hag demands were bound to come as a shock to the Manchester United squad.

Ten Hag’s intense training sessions are only going to benefit the Reds as we draw closer to the start of the Premier League season.

We will probably be fitter then we have ever been and that will allow us to press from the front and maintain the intense ethos that Ten Hag seeks to become second nature amongst his squad.

But ahead of our third pre-season match against Aston Villa tomorrow, it was evident by photos shared on the club’s social media channels that Ten Hag had once again put his players through their paces.

Anthony Martial, Alex Telles, Harry Maguire and Jadon Sancho were the places who were seemingly gasping for air after what must have been yet another intense drill.

In Ten Hag’s first two games in charge of the club – the players look fitter and if we can build on that ahead of the new season then there’s going to be a stark contrast to the side that finished last season with next to no fight being shown.
