Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri has opened up about Erik ten Hag’s reaction as United suffered a 3-2 defeat against Borussia Dortmund to wrap up their pre-season tour of the United States.
After dominating the game for the first 43 minutes and leading through a stunning strike from Diogo Dalot, a mistake from the United defence as half-time approached led to Dortmund equalising through Malen before the German side took the lead again through the Dutch striker.
A second-half goal from Antony brought United back into the game but the winner from Youssoufa Moukoko, following a mistake from Aaron Wan-Bissaka, meant it was another frustrating pre-season game for Erik ten Hag with the season getting underway in two weeks’ time.
‘He was angry’
Pellistri has admitted, in an interview with the United Stand, that Ten Hag was unhappy following the goals United conceded, but he believes there were positives to take from the game.
“For the first 43 minutes, we were good, we controlled the game and looked comfortable on the ball,” the Uruguayan winger said, “But of course, he was angry because of the two mistakes we made and the goals we conceded which changes the match. The goals we conceded changed the momentum but we have to continue with the way we want to play.”
Fans were ‘incredible’
The former Penarol winger performed well during the game, but the future remains unclear for the winger. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, he spoke about the love and the support from the United fans who made the journey out to the United States, as well as the local fans who attended.

“Incredible support, also the last pre-season when we were in Australia, the United fans are amazing anywhere we go,” the 21-year-old said. ” Of course, we are training hard, and with the support of the fans wherever we go it helps and we need that support.”
United will be heading back to Manchester this week as they prepare for a friendly against French side RC Lens at Old Trafford.
