Manchester United will soon be able to welcome Alejandro Garnacho back to action.

Alejandro Garnacho is closing in on a return to action for Manchester United. Already there is a battle for his services.

Argentina want Garnacho to play a part in the Argentina under-20 World Cup, which starts on May 20.

The Telegraph report Argentina under-20 coach Javier Mascherano has flown to England to hold talks with clubs, and try and plead their case for United to release him.

Manchester United have easy Garnacho call

Manchester United do not want to release Alejandro Garnacho, and the club’s case has just been strengthened after reaching the FA Cup final.

While FIFA rules say clubs must release players when they are called up to their countries, this only applies during designated international windows.

The FA Cup final takes place on June 3, and this strengthens United’s cause to keep Garnacho around.

The rate United are going, Champions League qualification could be more or less wrapped up this week with a victory away at Tottenham.

This will take United nine points clear of fifth placed Spurs with two games in hand.

The end of the season could have become a procession, with Champions League qualification locked up, and enabled United to say ‘you know what, Garnacho can go with Argentina’.

The FA Cup final changes everything. This will be a very meaningful game, with huge stakes. The chance to win a trophy and potentially kill off City’s Treble hopes all wrapped into one.

There is no way United permit Garnacho to leave for an under-20s tournament. If it was an obvious decision already, the FA Cup has made it even easier.

Argentine reporter Gaston Edul reports: “If Brighton had won, there would be a better chance of unlocking him.”
