Harry Maguire axed
Manchester United announced Harry Maguire will no longer be club captain, after the defender himself had communicated the news via Instagram.
Maguire, 30, only started eight Premier League games last season. It felt inevitable he would drop the armband, with questions being asked over his future at the club.
Bruno Fernandes call makes sense
It makes total sense for Bruno Fernandes to be Manchester United captain, even though there are a lot of credible candidates.
MORE UNITED STORIES
Raphael Varane, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, and even Marcus Rashford have cases going for them.
However, Fernandes has already proven himself to Erik ten Hag and the rest of the squad.
Fernandes was the chosen captain last season on the many occasions Harry Maguire was not selected, and when United won the Carabao Cup, they lifted the trophy jointly.
The decision is not yet confirmed, however, it would be a surprise if Fernandes was not made captain, and this latest report indicates that it is heading in that direction.
