Solskjaer faced the media for the first time yesterday and revealed he has taken advice from his old mentor Sir Alex Ferguson ahead of guiding United into the second half of the season.
He has also said he will have input into United’s January transfer plans, which remain unclear while the long-term managerial plan is up in the air.

Elsewhere, the Express report that Ed Woodward has continued his planning for the new era by targeting Paul Mitchell, who has worked with Mauricio Pochettino at both Southampton and Tottenham.

ESPN report that David de Gea is edging ever closer to signing a new long-term contract at Old Trafford and his commitment is unaffected by Jose Mourinho’s departure.
Alexis Sanchez could be in hot water over reports he bet that Mourinho would be sacked with Marcos Rojo, while the Daily Star claim four unnamed United stars threatened to leave if the Portuguese remained at the club.

Roy Keane has been typically scathing in his assessment of the players’ performances in the months leading up to Mourinho’s sacking.
