Manchester United have named a 31-man squad list set to fly out on pre-season tour. The club have named the travelling party, set to fly out on Friday, with the first match against Liverpool on Tuesday.

New signing Tyrell Malacia is on the plane, the only new addition. Youngsters Ethan Laird, Charlie Savage, Hannibal, Alejandro Garnacho and Zidane Iqbal are all part of the group named by new manager Erik ten Hag.

Tahith Chong is also part of the group, while United have both goalkeepers Nathan Bishop and Matej Kovar included too.

Who is not on the plane

The most notable absentee of all is Cristiano Ronaldo. The club’s official stance is, “he has been granted additional time off to deal with a family issue.”

Long-serving defender Phil Jones is not included. He is following a specialist training programme at Carrington and is not part of the 31-man squad.

Brandon Williams and Andreas Pereira have also been left behind, with the latter expected to seal a transfer to Fulham imminently.

There is no place on the plane for promising left-back Alvaro Fernandez, or attacking midfielder Shola Shoretire, nor Will Fish, who have all been training as part of the first team group. The Athletic report Shoretire and Fernandez are expected to head out loan with United already receiving enquiries.
