AC Milan are keen on Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof and reports from Italy suggest that a £13 million bid may be enough to see the Premier League giants accept an offer from the Serie A challengers.
It says a lot about how Victor Lindelof has performed at the start of this topsy-turvy, error-ridden season that many Manchester United supporters would sooner see Harry Maguire and a 35-year-old Jonny Evans start ahead of him these days.
Lindelof was at fault again as United gifted Brentford a goal softer than underbaked blancmange last weekend. The ‘Ice Man’ melting in the late-summer heat.
And while it is expected that the Red Devils will trigger the 12-month extension clause in the Sweden international’s contract, that may be a decision made from a financial – rather than a sporting – perspective.
Manchester United could sell Victor Lindelof
According to Milan Web, there is interest from the Rossoneri.
Man United triggering that extension clause would serve largely to protect Lindelof’s value, ensuring he does not leave for free in 2024 and thus forcing Milan to dip into their pockets. The report suggests that the seven-time European champions – who are in the market for a Simon Kjaer replacement – may be willing to offer £13 million.
A fee which could be sufficient to twist Man United’s arm.
“I don’t think I’ve seen defending by a Manchester United side like that for years,” BBC pundit and one-time Red Devil Garth Crooks said following that calamitous 3-1 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion in September.
“Victor Lindelof looked unrecognisable from the player I saw in last season’s FA Cup semi-final (also against Brighton).”

With Man United scouring the market for a young, ball-playing centre-half – from Antonio Silva to Goncalo Inacio, Giorgio Scalvini to Marc Guehi – the expectation was that Maguire would make way in 2024.
Lindelof’s contract situation and his comparatively minor price-tag, however, means he is likely to be far easier to ship out.
