Manchester United loanee praised after scoring ‘incredible goal’ in high-scoring win

Manchester United defender Brandon Williams scored his second goal for Ipswich Town at the weekend to keep up his good form.

With Manchester United struggling for full-backs amid an injury crisis, one loanee is really proving his quality.

Brandon Williams has now scored two goals in three games for Ipswich Town, thriving from their right-back position.

His goal was his best yet as a professional footballer, running from his own half at pace, before narrowing a shot straight into the bottom corner.

Brandon Williams praised

Brandon Williams’ goal put Ipswich 2-1 up against Preston, and his side went on to win a high-scoring game 4-2.

Manager Kieran McKenna told their club website he was pleased with the defender’s contribution.

He said: “The second was an incredible goal and Brandon showed that drive and determination all game, which we needed today.”

Williams getting what he needed

Williams is getting what he needed at Ipswich, a regular run of games, having played only once last season.

While he may have got that at United if he stayed, due to the injury crisis, the defender may be better off as he is out of the spotlight, and can focus on his game without too much scrutiny.

Leif Davis is one of Ipswich’s best defenders, a regular at left-back, which is prompting a run of games for Williams on the right, where he played for United’s academy.

He too is showing he is too good to leave out right now.
