Manchester United loanee Ethan Galbraith scored a screamer in Salford City’s 2-0 win against Hartlepool United in last night’s League Two clash.

The 21-year-old clinched victory for Neil Wood’s Ammies at The Suit Direct Stadium by scoring a 93rd minute wonder strike, which flew into the top corner.

It was the two-time Northern Ireland international’s second goal for Salford, and the Manchester United Academy graduate was named player of the match for his performance.

Making his sixth consecutive start for Salford, Galbraith played a starring role in ensuring his former Manchester United Under-23s manager got back to winning ways after The Peninsula Stadium side lost to Stockport County on Saturday.

With the game entering its final stages, fellow midfielder Elliot Watt revealed that he was initially fuming at Galbraith for not passing it to him in the corner, so he could waste priceless seconds.

Speaking after the game, Watt jokingly said: “I was fuming at him – I’ve gone on the overlap and I’m saying give it me in the corner, and then you see it fly into the top corner and then you’re like fair play I’ll let you off this once, but it was a wonder strike and he’s got that [in his locker].

“It was an enjoyable last 90 seconds after Gally put that one into the top corner.”

Wood wasn’t surprised by the technical quality Galbraith displayed with his strike from distance.

Wood said: “He’s got that in him – he’s got the ability to do that.”

Galbraith was rewarded for an industrious display against the Pools after he put in a big shift for the team.

Salford’s number 16 had 69 touches and finished the game with 74% pass accuracy after he completed 32 of his 43 attempted passes.

He won eight duels, as well as making one clearance, two interceptions and four tackles, according to SofaScore.

The win at Hartlepool moved Salford up to fifth place in League Two and four points off the automatic promotion spots.
