Manchester United loanee Anthony Martial has been pictured back in training for La Liga side Sevilla.

The French international has missed Sevilla’s last two games after coming off injured in the 1-1 draw at Espanyol 10 days ago.

The 26-year-old missed the defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the second leg of their Europa League tie and also missed the 2-1 win against Real Betis on Sunday.

But Sevilla’s number 22 has returned to training and could make his return to action in Friday night’s clash against Alaves, where Martial could come up against Manchester United teammate Facundo Pellistri.

It must have been frustrating for the Frenchman, picking up the injury just days after scoring his first goal for Julen Lopetegui’s side.

But with Sevilla trailing La Liga leaders Real Madrid by only six points and with a Europa League clash against West Ham to come, Martial can help spearhead his loan side to success this season.

Despite not having a buy option included in the loan deal, if the former Monaco man guides Sevilla to glory this campaign, a conversation could well be had between the two clubs about the deal being made permanent.

Although Martial had made it clear to United’s interim boss Ralf Rangnick that he wanted to leave Manchester United, the Reds have looked light up front since his departure.

With Edinson Cavani’s injury issues showing no signs of easing and Mason Greenwood not being considered for selection, Rangnick hasn’t had the luxury of taking Cristiano Ronaldo out of the firing line.

The 37-year-old may only have one goal to his name in 2022, but he is having to start every game due to the lack of natural striker options at the German’s disposal.

However, Anthony Martial’s short-term focus won’t be on his parent club, it will be getting back out on the pitch for his loan side and reclaiming his place in the starting line-up.
