Jadon Sancho made a return to the Manchester United starting line-up for last night’s game with Brentford.

It was the winger’s 13th of the season, and a welcome return to the XI as it was his first start in any game for a month, due to the international break.

In this stop-start season for Jadon Sancho, he is trying to build up a run of form and consistency. This opportunity against Brentford was a big one for him, to try and prove to deserves to retain a place in the starting XI.

Sancho played out wide on the left, with Marcus Rashford leading the line, and both Wout Weghorst and Anthony Martial on the bench.

The former Dortmund ace had a strong start, creating one chance in an industrious first half which Manchester United dominated and went in 1-0 up at half-time.

This was a tidy performance from Sancho, who was clean in possession and willing to run with the ball when he got it.

Sancho completed three dribbles, more than any player on the pitch on either side. His passing was precise too, completing 33 of 37 attempts.

He was substituted in the 71st minute and was really unfortunate to be taken off, with Anthony Martial coming on and Rashford moving out to the left.

Sancho could have done with the 90 minutes, and this was one of his better performances in a Manchester United shirt.

Still, there was enough reason to be encouraged with his efforts, and he has a chance of retaining his place in the side this weekend at home to Everton.
