Manchester United have the 4th longest unbeaten streak in Europe’s top 5 leagues

Manchester United have had a few too many draws lately – but crucially have not lost a league game since the first match of 2022.

In a league as competitive as the Premier League, that is a bigger achievement than many people would typically recognise.

Unbeaten streak

Data from WhoScored.com shows Manchester United’s unbeaten streak of seven consecutive Premier League matches is among the best in Europe’s top five leagues, England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France

United’s league form is also ranked the seventh best in Europe’s top five leagues over the past six games, with four wins and two draws racking up 14 points from a possible 18.

Ralf Rangnick deserves credit for this, even with a somewhat softer fixture schedule compared to what lies ahead.

United’s last seven league games have come against Aston Villa, Brentford, West Ham, Burnley, Southampton, Brighton and Leeds. Of those sides, only three are placed in the top half of the Premier League.

United’s next seven games

If only the next seven games were so straightforward. Manchester United’s unbeaten streak is going to be put to the test over the upcoming weeks.

While United will fancy the prospects of victory at home to Watford on Saturday, it does get a lot tougher after that.

Next seven fixtures: Watford (H), Manchester City (A), Tottenham (H), Liverpool (A), Leicester (H), Everton (A), Norwich (A).

If United are able to come through this seven game league run still unbeaten, and there is a Champions League second leg to be played in the midst of it all, then that will be a serious feat for Rangnick’s side.

At the very least, the stability of this run of unbeaten games over the past few weeks has given a platform and some stability heading into this tough stretch, and somewhere to build from.
