Manchester United have just been shown up by a League 1 side, Erik ten Hag may be a little embarrassed.
It seems like a lifetime ago now since Manchester United played their last Premier League game. Not like United fans needing reminding, but it ended in bitter defeat.
They lost 2-1 to a rejuvenated Nottingham Forest side. A Marcus Rashford goal was not enough for the Red Devils as Nicolas Dominguez and Morgan Gibbs-White strikes put Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in the ascendency.
They featured in the FA Cup today, where history has repeated itself – and it’s also kind of embarrassed Manchester United and Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United shown up by Blackpool
Nottingham Forest’s FA Cup clash with League One side Blackpool has just concluded. The game finished 2-2, which forced the tie into a replay at Blackpool’s stadium.
Blackpool were leading the game against Forest for a good while. They scored two in two minutes in the 25th and 27th minute, to cancel out an early Dominguez strike.
But it was, again, Gibbs-White who got their second. Meaning it was two identical scorers in the game against Ten Hag’s men.
Forest played a full-strength side against Blackpool, similar to the one that played United. Ten Hag should be somewhat embarrassed by this.
Erik ten Hag to feel slightly embarrassed…
Blackpool did numerous things that Ten Hag’s side couldn’t against the Premier League strugglers.
Blackpool took the lead in the tie and also managed to score two at The City Ground. A feat Manchester United could not accomplish.
Now Forest did absolutely dominate proceedings, but that was to be expected considering the gulf in class.
What this has made ever the more apparent is United’s woeful attack. Blackpool had three shots in the entire game, with two going in and one being a big chance squandered. To put this into perspective, United had zero ‘big chances’.
A little embarrassing for the Red Devils, who will be hoping their goal-scoring tides turn against Wigan Athletic on Monday as they look to kick off their FA Cup trophy search with a bang.
