Manchester United get double injury boost for Barcelona clash says Erik ten Hag

Erik ten Hag has conducted his pre-match press conference before Manchester United host Barcelona tomorrow night.

United drew the first leg 2-2 in the Camp Nou, having the game in the palm of their hands at one stage before being fortunate not to lose by the end.

The first question he got asked was about the fitness of his squad, with Harry Maguire, Antony and Anthony Martial missing out against Leicester on Sunday.

The Dutchman said that he expects the club captain and the Brazilian winger to be fit here, but Martial is not ready for this game despite getting back on the grass in training.

“We still have a training session (before the game) but I expect Harry Maguire and Antony to be available [tomorrow].

“Anthony Martial is not available. He is back on the training pitch but not in the team training.”

Antony had posted a photo on his Instagram story back in United training gear, which did raise optimism that he would be back in contention.

It seems the issue which kept Maguire out of contention against his former club is a minor one, although you would not expect him to play here.

Lisandro Martinez was suspended for the first leg, with Luke Shaw playing at centre-half, with Tyrell Malacia at left-back.

Maguire was fit for that game, so you would expect Lisandro to come in at the heart of defence, with Shaw shifting across and Raphael Varane back in the side.

The Frenchman was rested for Sunday’s 3-0 win, which is perhaps a nod to his fitness record, with Victor Lindelof coming in and doing well.

Marcel Sabitzer’s suspension is also over, which gives Ten Hag a decision to make over whether it is him or Fred who partners Casemiro in midfield.
