Manchester United transfer target Cody Gakpo has been impressing at the World Cup with two goals in his opening two games.
The 23-year-old forward did not rule out a move when quizzed at a press conference, quoted by The Mail: “Right now I’m busy with the Dutch team. I’ll see what happens in the winter. In football, anything is possible.”
Gakpo had previously told The Times he held talks with manager Erik ten Hag in the summer over a move to Manchester United.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit has heightened United’s need for a goalscorer, and renewing interest in free-scoring forward Gakpo appears a logical choice.

Cody Gakpo transfer warning
Last week Fabrizio Romano reported PSV Eindhoven will be looking for a fee upwards of £40 million for Gakpo.
The Dutch side have been urged to ask for a far higher fee – with former Dutch international Willy van der Kerkhof believing they should really attempt to cash in.
He told Voetbal Primeur: “Gakpo is playing well at the World Cup. That’s good for him, but also good for PSV.
“Quite honestly: if he plays a good World Cup, and he is working on that, then I think he will be gone at Christmas.
“Of course I don’t decide on it, but I wouldn’t sell it for less than 80 million euros.”
This figure works out at £69.2 million, more than double the £34 million which The Telegraph reported he was available for in the summer.
The touted figure is just Van der Kerkhof’s opinion, but it could be one shared by the PSV hierarchy if Gakpo continues his World Cup scoring streak.
120 youth goals in one season
An impressive statistic has also emerged regarding Gakpo, highlighted by his former youth team coach.
Twan Scheepers managed Gakpo in PSV’s youth wing, and he raved about his ability, speaking to Dutch outlet NOS.
He revealed: “With me, he scored about 120 goals in one season, out of a total of 280 of the team.
“With half of the other goals, he also gave the assist.”
Gakpo is next in action later today at the World Cup when Netherlands take on Qatar at 3pm, who are already eliminated.
