Manchester United fans vote Bruno Fernandes man of the match, wins by 1% ahead of Fred

Manchester United beat Tottenham 2-0 last night in a memorable Old Trafford victory which could easily have been by a far higher scoreline.

United had 28 shots at Tottenham and if the scoreline had ended 5-0, it would not have flattered the Red Devils.

This was a truly dominant performance from Manchester United’s side, and it was not a straightforward choice to name a man of the match, as there were a team full of viable contenders.

Fred and Bruno Fernandes scored Manchester United’s goals in the second half, with Jadon Sancho providing the assist for the opener.

Man of the match v Tottenham

Manchester United fans were asked by the club’s official website to vote for a man of the match. And it was very close.

Just one per cent separated first and second place, with the two goalscorers racking up the most votes.

There could quite easily have been cases for any of the back four to be man of the match too, with the way they shackled Tottenham’s attack so easily.

Bruno Fernandes was given the man of the match by broadcasters Amazon Prime, and it was hard to argue with that, despite Fred’s contribution.

Fernandes created nine goalscoring chances, his second highest ever tally in a Manchester United shirt.

He scored just his second goal of the season, following up his earlier strike against Southampton in August.
