Manchester United fans react

Manchester United fans have got their hopes up before and seen them dashed. From failed takeover attempts, to protests that failed to yield any results. The Glazers still own a majority stake in the club.

They sold a large part of their shares to Ineos in late 2023. But they still hold ‘drag-along rights‘ which gives them the power to force Sir Jim Ratcliffe into a sale.

So will the Glazers actually cede power and walk away? Or will this be continue to be a gradual erosion of their shares?

Manchester United supporters on TalkingPoints have been voicing options, with one suggesting he cannot see the American owners ‘selling their cash cow’.

Another fan expressed doubt, but still holds out hope of a total Glazer sale, commenting, ‘let’s hope this time it’s true’

Another optimist supporter is willing the sale into existence, writing ‘bye bye good riddance’.

United In Focus finance expert Adam Williams suggested that these latest reports could lead to a ‘gradual sell-off’ of shares rather than a total exit.

A further comment urged both the Glazers and Sir Jim Ratcliffe to sell their stakes in the club to new investors.

A further voice suggested they are ‘much better than Ratcliffe’.

Another response was far more positive about Sir Jim Ratcliffe, expressing hope that he can buy a controlling stake.
