Manchester United fans react to Eric Bailly’s performance

There were a lot of upset Manchester United supporters when Eric Bailly was left out of Saturday’s game against Brighton.

Bailly got his opportunity at the same stadium last night and impressed as United eased to a 3-0 win.

Partnering Victor Lindelof, Bailly put in a strong shout to displace the Swede at home to Tottenham in the Premier League this weekend.

While Lindelof did not have a bad game, Bailly’s strengths stood out.

He was quick and alert to cover for Diogo Dalot, who left gaps defensively, and made one particularly impressive sliding challenge inside the box at the start of the second half.

Right to the final whistle Bailly competed, blocking a shot and heading it clear to protect United’s clean sheet.

This game was much easier than the Premier League game at the weekend and a strong defence was one of the key reasons why.

Bailly made two interceptions and three clearances as United shut Brighton’s attack down.

His ability to see danger and react to it quickly helped limit Brighton’s chances. United just look like a better defensive unit when he is in the team.

And we note this because you always have to when it’s Eric Bailly: He made it through all 90 minutes without any injury problems.

Fan reaction

There was a big positive reaction to Bailly’s performance amid more calls for him to start at the weekend.

Here is a look at what fans had to say on social media…
