Dean Henderson had a storming game in goal for England’s under-21 side against France.

The future Manchester United number one impressed despite the Three Lions slipping to a 2-1 defeat.

Henderson saved a penalty from Lyon forward Moussa Dembele in the first half.

France missed a second spot kick after the break when Houssam Aouar hit the post.

Henderson made a series of saves, but his luck ran out late on.

Of course it was United linked full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka who scored an unfortunate own goal, diverting the ball past Henderson.

Henderson told The Mail at the weekend that he is desperate to become United’s number one goalkeeper.

After he helped Sheffield United to win promotion, Henderson is full of confidence and it showed last night.

He is a ready made long term replacement for David de Gea, whenever the Spaniard moves on.
