Another day, another injury at Manchester United and this time it’s Mason Mount who is set for a spell on the sidelines.
United splashed £55million on Mason Mount last summer and handed him the prestigious No.7 shirt on his arrival.
But Mount’s first season at Old Trafford ended up being a disaster with the 25-year-old making just two league appearances before suffering an injury.
Mount suffered another injury to his calf shortly after recovering and he ended his first year at the club with only 20 appearances in all competitions.
He returned to pre-season in good shape and got some valuable minutes, but just two league games into the season – again – he has returned to the treatment room.

Mason Mount issues injury update
Mount issued an update to supporters about his injury on Instagram, where he revealed that he picked up a minor knock during the 2-1 defeat to Brighton.
Erik ten Hag took Mount off at half-time against Brighton and the United boss confirmed after the full-time whistle that the change was due to injury.
The club have now issued a statement confirming Mount’s setback. The Athletic report it is a hamstring injury which is expected to keep him out for about four to five weeks.
Mount is set to join Leny Yoro, Rasmus Hojlund, Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw in the treatment room ahead of this Sunday’s clash against Liverpool.
Man United fans react to Mason Mount injury
The word ‘injury’ is enough to send shivers down the spine of any fan after last season, where he was one of Manchester United’s most injured players, and this season looks to be continuing in a similar trend.
Mount had actually made a fairly bright start to the season and looked to be a crucial cog in Ten Hag’s pressing system.
But just as he thought he could kick-start his United career he faces another spell on the sidelines and United fans are quickly running out of patience.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan said “Sick of this guy, can’t play one game without getting injured”.
Another added “Chelsea scammed us but we wish him a quick recovery to come back stronger”
Supporters have even suggested that Mount should be sold because of his injury issues.
“If you don’t sell him in January I’m done with this club,” said one fan, while another posted “Let’s just cut our losses with this guy. Shift him for £30m and call it a day”
A third supporter wrote: “Mount should have been sold. He has never performed as per the standards of Manchester United.”
A fan also pointed out the similarity out Mount’s injury compared to the start of the 2023/24 season. “This is literally how last season started. Couple games in Mount was done, Licha was next and the dissolvable biscuit that is Luke Shaw was also out.”
