France offered a potential glimpse of Manchester United’s future last night by partnering Paul Pogba with Tanguy Ndombele.

The two stars lined up in midfield in France’s friendly match against Bolivia.

The duo starred in a predictably comfortable win, and the partnership served to whet the appetite of fans who are hoping to see Ndombele sign for United this summer.

The situation

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas told Sky Sports at the end of April that United have been tracking the midfielder.

Unfortunately so are Real Madrid, Manchester City, Juventus, Tottenham, and PSG.

The Mail report Lyon are looking to attract as much as 100 million Euros (£87 million) for Ndombele this summer.

The 22-year-old midfielder had a strong season, and starred in Lyon’s away win in the Champions League over Manchester City.

Midfield is an area United badly need to strengthen after Ander Herrera’s departure. Ndombele would be a terrific upgrade.

What about Pogba?

Pogba staying at Old Trafford is not 100 per cent certain, although the club have given no indication they want to sell.

Signing Ndombele would give him extra reason to want to stay, to build a strong partnership for club and country.

Together the pair are a good combination of silk and steel and have the potential to be dominant.

Assuming United’s scouts were watching, last night’s game could give the club extra reason to consider paying Lyon’s demands.
