Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has caused quite a stir in his revelation over what he told his Manchester United during his final game.
Both Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay have been hot topics in the Manchester United fanbase following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s appearance on the Stick to Football podcast.
Ole explained that he knew he was going to be sacked when his side were down to Watford at half-time.
He mentioned several players were upset, and therefore he told his players that anyone who didn’t want to play the second half could raise their hands.
Fans have now gone back and discovered that the two halftime substitutions were Rashford and McTominay, and now fans are deeply divided over what this means.

Some fans are furious at the pair of Manchester United academy graduates
On one side of the argument, some fans on X were appalled at the two United academy players.
One fan wrote: “Ole Gunnar Solskjær on his final game in charge: ‘The team talk at half time was about whoever wants to play can play, and get your hand up if you don’t want to play.’ Rashford and McTominay Off, Martial and van de Beek On. Unbelievable.”
A second also said: “McTominay and Rashford asking to come off but don’t worry they’re United through and through. They gave up while only 2 nil down, some mentality that”.
“McTominay and Rashford are a disgrace”, a third slammed.
While a fourth remarked, “Same players will do the same thing to Erik Ten Hag“.
Meanwhile some are sympathetic believing the pair were upset instead of not wanting to play
On the other hand, other fans read the situation completely differently instead suggesting it’s likely these two were the upset players Ole mentioned.
One fan argued exactly that: “Could also mean they were upset – as Ole said some were crying, stop jumping to conclusions”.
Another added some context to the situation, fighting the player’s corner: “For context, Ole went on to say McTominay was always someone he relied on and would always give his all like Fred, James and Matic. Also Ole mentioned there were players upset at HT and not in the mental headspace to play because they knew he would be sacked. Just a thought”.
Another defended the pair: “Do people ever think that maybe, just maybe 2 lads who grew up at United and probably idolised Ole were the ‘couple of lads in tears’? And couldn’t control their emotions enough to continue?”
A final fan argued that the two players being upset shows how much they care: “Ole said that everyone knew he was losing his job at halftime, with some players crying and not in the headspace to play (presumably McTom and Rashford). That level of care and respect for your manager solidifies you as ‘United through and through’ if anything.”
